What Is a Virtual Power Plant?
A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) connects hundreds or thousands of home batteries across Victoria into one coordinated network. When the grid needs extra power — on hot summer evenings or during price spikes — your battery exports stored energy. You receive credits on your electricity bill.
You do not manually switch anything. Smart software from your retailer or VPP provider manages charging and dispatch in the background.

No battery storage installed
Solar-only homes cannot join a VPP — VPPs need stored energy to dispatch on demand. You still get a feed-in tariff (typically 3–10c/kWh) and self-consumption savings, but that is the ceiling.

Common Questions
Q Can I join a VPP with solar panels only?
Not yet — VPPs need a battery to store and dispatch energy on demand. Adding a Sigenergy or GoodWe battery immediately unlocks VPP participation. Ask us about retrofit options for existing solar systems.
Q Will a VPP drain my battery and cut my power?
No. A minimum reserve (typically 20%) is always protected for your home. The VPP only ever accesses surplus energy. Your backup power is safe.
Q Does joining a VPP void my battery warranty?
No. Both Amber SmartShift and GloBird ZeroHero operate within normal battery cycling parameters. Sigenergy and GoodWe warranties are unaffected when installed and commissioned correctly.
Q What solar rebates are available in Victoria 2026?
